Lorraine Listens

Lorraine is a dedicated parent and civil rights attorney with a passion for education. With years of experience in PTA and PTO, she understands the needs of students and families in our community. 

I’m the daughter of a South Asian immigrant who came here to go to college, and a white mom who barely finished high school. 

Based on my personal experiences, I have a deep appreciation

for how critical public education is, both for individuals and for our community. I know all of us in Decatur want to give our kids the very best, while also holding our Board and administration accountable for their decisions and expenditures. We need more transparency from leadership, and I promise to facilitate that and promote greater community involvement so that everyone feels heard and our students get the education and safe space for learning that they all deserve.
